Here are a few of my favorite links. This is by no means intended to be an exhaustive list. Have a look and maybe you will find a site you haven't visited before.
Lists and Message Boards
Cyndi's List - If I could only put one genealogy site in my favorites, this would be it. This site, belonging to Cyndi Howell, lists over 50,000 genealogical web sites. You can find almost anything having to do with genealogy at Cyndi's List.Lineages, a genealogy reference library and resource center.
Gen Forum - This is one of my favorite sites. I visit the message boards for each of my surnames on a regular basis. I have made many contacts through this site.
Ancestry.com - Ancestry.com really fits in several catigories of web sites. It has an excellent search site though many of it's data bases are for members only. However, for me, the message boards are well worth the visit for members and non-members alike.
Search Engines
Family Search - This is the web site developed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Ancestry.com - As I stated above, Ancestry.com has an excellent search engine. Some of their data bases are free all of the time, including the Social Security Death Index. Data bases are added regularly and new data bases are free to everyone for 10 days. After ten days the data bases are closed for members only. Memberships are available on-line.
Bureau Of Land Management - The Official Federal Land Patent Records Site. This site offers researchers a source of information on the initial transfer of land titles from the Federal government to individuals.
Genealogy Projects
USGenweb Project - Maybe the most ambicious project on the web. The project is working on everything from putting the US Census on the web to having reference areas for every county in every state.
